Authors Nada Kasim and Zamzam Nur talked about The First Winter with Rob Ferrett of WPR’s Central Time. Our favorite Qs:
Q: Nada, if you met someone today who had just come to, say, Wisconsin as a refugee from another country, Somalia or wherever in the world, what would you say to them? What would you say to them to prepare them for life in America?
A: I would tell them to just never be afraid and that they will get through these struggles…
Q: And Zamzam, what would you say to someone who might be meeting a refugee or a refugee’s child for the first time ever?
A: I would say don’t be scared. We’re people just like you. And just be open and ask questions. We’re always happy to answer them.
What would you say if you met someone today who had just arrived as a refugee from another country? A defining question of our time.
